Hermès - A Sporting Life

seen at 'The New York Times Style Magazine'
After our move to one of the most exciting cities of the world - yes, the one that never sleeps - we finally ordered the New York Times. Having a newspaper delivered to our door makes me feel more like home then our brand new TV up on the wall (and yes, this also took for ever). With the New York Times comes the Style Magazine … a nice conglomerate of marketing and ad campaigns.

As a true admirer of the craftsmanship and each and every single design of this french icon of luxury, I have to say that I was surprised by one ad within the new 'A Sporting Life!' campaign.

Where did the heritage of the brand go? Yes, if you want to grow and survive in this market you need to expand your product range, but a definite NO to 'just for the heck of it'.

The idea of this awesome book 'A Sporting Life' to honor photographer Jacques Henri Lartique was a perfect start.
Some of the print ads fit right into this creative concept, just one sticks out - why?

Louis Vuitton - are image campaigns transferable to every medium or channel!?

Vouge Ad
I recently discovered this really gorgeous ad…"L'Invitation Au Voyage - Venice"
 - kind of old but still worth talking about…
I have to admit that I am a true lover of LV(MH)…but some image campaigns only work well if you are familiar with the whole story…showing a 'Dschunke' (out of proportion in comparison to the Canale Grande), as the icon of the print ad does not sell the the idea well to customers that have never seen the gorgeous movie with David Bowie.
